About Vulcan Coach Corporation

When Norm Basden’s gospel quartet needed a tour bus, he undertook the job himself. Norm moved a bus into his backyard, removed the seats and did some conversion work, including carpeting and adding beds. After the bus was completed, other singers approached Norm about converting a coach for them. Thus, one of the oldest conversion companies in America, Norm’s Custom Coach was born, the name was later changed to Vulcan Coach Corporation.

Vulcan Coach got off to a good start due to the hard work and expertise of its founder. The company soon gained a reputation for designing entertainer coaches. The earliest conversion for a rock star was for Jackson Browne. After that, others lined up, including Martina McBride, Ronnie Dunn, Pam Tillis, Brooks & Dunn and Waylon Jennings. Garth Brookes is a repeat client of Vulcan Coach.

Today, Vulcan Coach is headed by Bruce Basden, Norm’s son. In addition to entertainer coaches, Vulcan Coach also does motor home conversions, executive day coaches, medical coaches, emergency evacuation vehicles, disaster relief vehicles and the super coach. The company also does major remodels.

Vulcan Coach Corporation is a family business and is the oldest continuously operating luxury motor coach converter in operation today (since 1964). Norm Basden started the company in spring of 1964 after converting coaches for his gospel quartet out of necessity beginning in 1961 and being asked to convert coaches by several other quartets. Son, Bruce Basden, started working in the company in 1969, and he has been at the helm for 20 years. Vulcan Coach Corporation meets the needs of their clients by providing the highest levels of comfort, excellence and service. We have been a leader in the motorcoach industry for more than 40 years.

Vulcan has been producing its “SuperCoach” model since 1994. SuperCoach conversions fit well in all motor coach. Vulcan also routinely does major remodels (converting 12 sleepers to super coaches) and upgrades to existing conversions as well as interior, exterior, and mechanical maintenance and service.
